Fun evening

The Prelude to Open Studios show was a lot of fun. I heard we had 575 people come through the door!

I talked to a lot of people about my pottery and look forward to seeing a lot of them in two weeks. Oh, and I sold my piece! Pretty exciting.

In other news, several of us spent the day working at Zizziba House, cleaning up the landscaping. We pulled weeds, trimmed trees, planted flowers and did a bunch of construction cleanup. We’ll do it again tomorrow. Things are shaping up, it’s exciting!

As a reminder - I’ll be showing my work at stop #21, the address is 2320 East Route 66.

Show piece

This is the piece I’m entering in the Prelude to Open Studios show. This show allows Open Studios participating artists to show one piece each at the Coconino Center for the Arts.

The opening reception is Saturday, August 13, I believe 6-9 p.m. I’m working the show that night. The show runs August 16 through September 10, Tues-Sat, 11-5.

Details on the piece - it’s a stoneware platter, made from a creamy-colored high fired stoneware clay. It measures about 13″ in diameter and stands about 2″ high from rim to tabletop. The center of the platter, inside the rim, is about an inch deep.

I’m not wigging out about the show or Open Studios. Nope, nuh-uh, not me. I’m feeling perfectly normal… see?

Note: The info on my education isn’t quite correct - I graduated high school in 1985 and got my bachelor’s degree in Organizational Studies in 2010… so actually was pursuing creative and academic ventures at the same time. Doesn’t really matter but enough people listened to me complain about school while working full-time and being an artist, I thought I’d clarfiy!
